The film marks Star Cinema’s return to cinemas after more than two years due to the pandemic and ABS-CBN shutdown.
The massive excitement for Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano’s An Inconvenient Love was well-reflected by DonBelle’s domination on Twitter’s local top trending chart on October 24. The highly anticipated rom-com is Star Cinema’s first movie in more than two years, after the zombie flick Block Z (2020). It also serves as DonBelle’s sophomore lead-starrer in a film after the ‘streaming-only’, Love is Color Blind (2021).
Following Star Cinema’s release of the film’s first official poster, DonBelle promptly took social media by storm, with topics related to An Inconvenient Love shooting up to the top of Twitter Philippine’s local trending topics list. #AILNov23 and UNMASKING 24Ever peaked as the first and second most-talked-about topics, respectively, within minutes of the poster’s release.
Petersen Vargas of Hello Stranger fame series and film will direct An Inconvenient Love. Aside from Pangilinan and Mariano, JC Alcantara, Tirso Cruz Cruz III, Jeffrey Quizon, Vance Larena, Teresa Loyzaga, Adrian Lindayag, Matet de Leon, Sheenly Gener, Maxene Magalona, Iana Bernardez, and Nicco Manalo will join the cast. The story follows young lovers Ayef (Mariano) and Manny (Pangilinan), who agreed to enter a convenient relationship so that they could part ways and pursue their careers after just a month.

The premiere notably arrives a month ahead of the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2022, where two other Star Cinema movies—Vice Ganda and Ivana Alawi’s Partners in Crime and Coco Martin and Jodi Sta. Maria’s Labyu with An Accent) are both official entries. The Joshua Garcia-starrer Ang Mga Kaibigan Ni Mama Susan, a collaboration between Regal Entertainment and Blacksheep (Star Cinema’s sister film outfit), was first announced in August to finally opens in cinemas this year. However, an official release date is yet to be announced.
An Inconvenient Love, and the other films under Star Cinema, are seen to re-affirm the film production outfit’s leadership in mainstream cinema. Check out the teaser trailer below:
