Barbie Forteza, the lead star of Maria Clara at Ibarra, expressed her gratitude and insights about the show being the country’s current number-one series in an exclusive Zoom interview on October 21.
Forteza exclaimed, “Sobrang nakakatuwa. Hindi lang within our team, but also in the Philippine drama industry. I mean, namamayagpag ang ating Philippine history ngayon sa primetime, which makes us very proud.”
According to Forteza, GMA labels the historical fantaserye as an important milestone in Philippine television.
The versatile actress revealed that everything they put into work, including the dialogues, has been well received by viewers, demonstrating how they are working to restore the heart of Philippine history.
When asked if she knows that the primetime masterpiece will be huge, Forteza proudly says that she is well aware of its destined impact because of its concept and cast.
Forteza shared, “… Since the beginning, alam kong malaking proyekto siya kasi nga we will be tackling Philippine history. Even though the novel is fictional pero part siya ng kasaysayan natin.”
The series is based on the acclaimed novel by Dr. Jose Rizal. The book discusses the past to depict similar struggles in the present.
‘Maria Clara at Ibarra’ has topped the rating charts for the first two weeks, with a rating of 15.1 percent from Oct. 3 to 7, and 14.8 percent from Oct. 10 to 14.
