In the Mano Po Legacy: The Flower Sisters press conference on October 14, Thea Tolentino admitted she had a hard time playing her character in the said series because she’s not at home being the ‘mabait na bida’.
Tolentino, who’s known for her exemplary ‘kontrabida’ acts said, “Para sakin po talaga, mas nahihirapan ako sa mga light scenes, mabait na role. Mas at home po ako kapag nagsusungit ako.”
Marking her career in the talent search, Protégé, Tolentino began to gather attention in portrayals where she’s being the antagonist, in The Half Sisters (2014) with Barbie Forteza; Haplos (2017) with Sanya Lopez and Rocco Nacino; Asawa Ko, Karibal Ko (2018) with Kris Bernal and Rayver Cruz; and more.
Now, despite the need to adjust to her gentle role in the new show, the young actress is thankful that the Mano Po 3 directors are there to guide her in the right direction.
“Nung umpisa po medyo kinakapa ko pa kasi talagang mabait yung character ko, but with the help of the directors po, talagang sinasabi nila sakin na ‘Thea, mukha kang mataray dito. Let’s tame it down,’” she said.
“Nagpapasalamat po talaga ako na ginuguide nila ako every scene until nung naging komportable na ako bilang isang mabait na karakter.”
Tolentino will be Dahlia Chua in the said series. She will play one of the leads alongside Angel Guardian as Iris Chua, Beauty Gonzalez as Violet Chua, and Aiko Melendez as Lily Chua.
The Mano Po Legacy will premiere on October 31, 2022, on GMA Network.
