On January 11, Metro Manila Film Festive 2022 Best Actress Nadine Lustre reacted to people dubbing her as the new ‘Horror Queen.’

At the Thanksgiving dinner of the MMFF2022 film Deleter, Lustre said that she doesn’t consider herself the Philippine ‘Horror Queen’ yet because she still has a lot of horror projects to do before she can accept the title.

“Grabe naman, I don’t want to call it that. I mean, I don’t want to be the Horror Queen yet, kasi isa pa lang naman. Siguro kung ano, medyo marami-rami na, pwede ko ng i-accept as of the moment wag muna.”

However, she considered the success of Deleter as one of the highlights of 2022.

“Definitely, ‘yung success po ng Deleter, isa po ‘yun talaga sa pinaka highlight ng taon ko.”

As for her dream project, Lustre affirmed that she wants to portray a character with mental health issues, citing that she’s a fan of crime-themed shows.

“Ayun nga po, sabi ko nga po, parang gusto ko ng movie na psychopath. Hindi ko po alam, it’s very challenging po kasi, at gusto ko rin pong ma-test hanggang saan ‘yung kaya ko. Personally, I’m a huge fan of crime, mga documentaries, and even–medyo weird, even ‘yung mga serial killer na mga series, ganon, movies all of that.”

She explained how fascinated she was with the actors portraying these complicated characters.

“For me, I guess, na-amaze lang ako sa mga artista na gumaganap, ‘yung mga gumaganap talaga. So gusto ko talagang ma-experience talaga ‘yung pinagdadaanan nila kapag gumagawa sila ng ganon. Very challenging po siya.”

She then listed some of her inspirations for her dream role.

“Parang ‘yung ganon, mga Harlequin or yeah, o kaya sobrang– Hannibal Lecter is also good, sobrang gusto ko si Evan Peters sa American Horror Story, stuff like even Jeffrey Dahmer, ‘yung mga ganong klase ng role. Ako personally, sobrang favorite ko ‘yung American Horror Story.”

According to unofficial tallies, Deleter grossed over P234 Million, clinching the top spot for the MMFF2022.

The MMFF2022 entry won seven awards from MMFF Gabi ng Parangal, such as Best Sound, Best Visual Effects, Best Editing, Best Cinematography, Best Director, Best Actress for Nadine Lustre, and Best Picture.

Apart from Nadine Lustre, Deleter stars McCoy De Leon, Louise delos Reyes, and Jeffrey Hidalgo. Mikhail Red directed the horror-genre film premiered on December 25, 2022, and has been extended in cinemas nationwide.
