The Kapamilya executive expressed his gratefulness for the Kapuso talent and her talent management agency, Sparkle, for allowing her to work with a Kapamilya team.
2023 remains a year of collaborations for ABS-CBN, as the Network further expanded its content creation and provides capacity with new partnerships, especially in film. Through the new deal between the network’s talent management arm, Star Magic, and rising media production house, MAVX Productions, at least three new films will the big screen this year.
During the media conference for the said collaboration project, held last January 6, Dyogi took his chance to send regards to Padilla’s home network and talent agency, Sparkle, and the actress, herself, for accepting the offer to star alongside Gerald Anderson.
“I just like to thank Kylie and Sparkle for being part of this project, and for joining us ‘di ba?” he said.
He then pre-empted the press by answering right away, one of the possible questions they might ask.
“Baka may magtanong kasi diyan si Kylie switched to Star Magic. No. But we have the honor and Gerald has the honor to work with Kylie,” he shared.
One of GMA Network’s most prized female stars, Padilla is the only non-Star Magic artist who stars in a lead, in the three-film collaboration project. Dyogi also clarified that Star Magic isn’t a producer of the three films, and was just the main supplier of artists for the project.
“The truth is, Star Magic is not a producer. It is MAVX who produced the project, so kami eh parang supplier of artists,” Dyogi shared.
As it is a collaboration between Star Magic and MAVX, Dyogi noted that Kapamilya artists were a top priority in choosing the stars of the three films, but said that he respected MAVX for tapping Padilla to be part of the project.
‘So when we got into the partnership and collaboration, of course the priority was always Star Magic artists. But I would respect the choices of our director and our producer, so when they pitched the idea that it can be tried a different partner for Gerald—Gerald was also considered, tinanong din naman siya. I supposed Kylie was also asked if she was comfortable working outside her regular pool of co-workers, co-artists,” he told the press.
“It’s no brainer to consider that, yes Kylie can be a very good partner to Gerald. Ang tanong lang naman doon eh kung papayagan siya eh,”
Other than Unravel, the film starred Padilla and Anderson, which tackles the very sensitive topic of suicide, the collaboration also features a film starred by RK Bagatsing and Jane Oineza, and Barbie Imperial and Carlo Aquino.
