On February 12, award-winning director Joel Lamangan claimed that ‘Martyr or Murderer’ was trying to compete against their upcoming film, ‘Oras de Peligro’.
As Lamangan mentioned at the grand media conference for ‘Oras de Peligro,’ Darryl Yap’s upcoming film is scheduled for release on February 22.
Lamangan expressed, “Eh sila ang gustong tumapat. Mayroon Martyr or Murderer ‘yun ang tumatapat. Bakit di natin pangalanan. ‘Yun ang tumatapat sa amin. Dati February 22 sila bigla nilang nilagay sa March 1. Sila ang tumatapat hindi kami.”
The director added, “Ibig sabihin, napaka-importante ng pelikulang ito kaya nila tinatapatan. At takot sila.”
He then alleged that the film was trying to cover the truth about the 1986 EDSA Revolution. As he reiterated, Filipinos were the ones who evicted Marcos from Malacañang. According to him, this is the truth; it is true history, and it must be respected.
Lamangan also revealed that he received death threats before regarding his stand to fight for the truth. The director said he is not afraid and continued, “Ang magsabi ng totoo ba ay dapat kong ikatakot, hindi.
As for ‘Oras de Peligro,’ the film stars Cherry Pie Picache, Allen Dizon, Dave Bornea, Therese Malvar, Jim Pebanco, Crysten Dizon, Elora Espana, Timothy Castillo, and Rico Barrera.
‘Oras de Peligro’ is under the direction of Lamangan and opens in cinemas on March 1, 2023.
