Comedian-host Willie Revillame’s emotional rant on Wowowin failed to attract more viewers for the struggling ALLTV network.
In the show’s February 4 episode, Revillame emotionally appealed to the public to pray for the show and the Network. He appealed to netizens to set aside politics.
He remarked, “Ipagdasal niyo kami. Sana ipagdasal niyo kami na maging successful ito para maraming mga istasyon na maraming magawa. Marami kayong marinig na kabutihan. Set aside ninyo ‘yung pulitika.”
Revillame’s statement came on the heels of reports that ALLTV management had decided to temporarily cancel some of its newly launched programs, which met with enthusiasm from the netizens.
In a gaslighting tone, he called out netizens, who [apparently] rejoiced over the news report.
However, according to the rating report from the Nielsen NUTAM People Survey, Wowowin only managed to get a 0.1 percent rating, 0.1 percent below its usual 0.2 percent rating.
Wowowin has been struggling to get a significant share of the audience pie since its transfer to the Villar-owned TV station.
Given the heavy competition in the primetime block against the likes of 24 Oras and TV Patrol, which are more established names in evening programming, not to mention the ratings-hitter primetime teleseryes, Wowowin has been reduced from a money-making show to a somewhat “beggar” program asking “alms” of attention from the public.
