Vice Ganda responded to a netizen who lectured him following his viral statement about teachers who continue to call students not raising their hands for recitation.
In It’s Showtime episode on February 16, Vice Ganda said he would make a law forbidding teachers to call students for recitation if they are not raising their hands.
Agree ba kayo, Madlang People? 😅😅😅

The comedian said this as “YorMeme” who is a made-up character that spews nonsense.
In a tweet on February 26, one netizen gave an open letter to Vice Ganda saying that teachers never intended to shame students when they call them for recitations.

He even said that calling students for recitations [even if they are not raising their hands] is an effective teaching strategy to promote attention engagement.
Vice Ganda said the netizen made a valid point, but his statement was simply a joke.

The netizen then received backlash from other netizens who defended Vice Ganda.
They explained that the comedian was portraying a character and the netizen should understand the situation before judging or making any comment.

A teaching technique has always its pros and cons. Here are some disadvantages of cold calling. As a teacher, I don't use it in class anymore. There are other ways/techniques that I find more effective. pic.twitter.com/U6AKAEm9cN

As someone who had patients at the ER sec to suicide due to bullying masked as “cold calling” by teachers, hindi sya all the time effective.
Minsan ang theories/guidelines are there to guide the educators but it still depends on the grp of students on how u can motivate them— HopiaManiPopcorn 🍿 (@HopiaMoneyCola) February 26, 2023
