Did Alex Gonzaga pay for her Twitter blue check?

It seemed Alex Gonzaga continued to be one of the most hated celebrities in the country today.

It came after several netizens questioned and criticized Gonzaga for boasting about her Twitter blue check.

On Tuesday, April 25, Gonzaga proudly “paraded” her blue check in a tweet, even tagging Twitter CEO Elon Mask.

According to her, “Ayyy! Wala talaga akong blue check noon kaya nagulat ako bigla akong nagkaroon. Thanks ah bro @elonmusk. rockz.”

Gonzaga’s tweet got bombarded with [negative] reactions from netizens accusing her of paying for the blue check mark.

Twitter account @altcristyfermin made a sarcastic “Ok” tweet attaching a screenshot of the host vlogger’s Twitter profile, stating the blue check is a paid subscription.

@IMCRYSTAL_CLAIR also reacted by sharing a GIF of Heart Evangelista’s soundbite, “Oh my gosh, so kadire.”

@libsrasp meanwhile, slammed Gonzaga for allegedly “lying” about blue check, saying she paid for its subscription.

“Napaka SINUNGALING mo! Anong nagulat? Binili mo naman yan. Kaloka.”

@tingtongtingto shared the same line tweeting, “GAGA! Binayaran mo yan, eh. Nyetang to!”

@scorsaguin, on the other hand, shared the bible verse “Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from telling lies. – Psalm 34:13” together with a screenshot of Gonzaga’s profile, which showed the blue check as paid.

While the majority of netizens have criticized Gonzaga, there were those who gave possible reasons for her blue check.

In a tweet, @mharvzolivarez pointed out that Twitter has recently given back blue check marks to those Twitter accounts with more than 1 million followers.

“Actually binigyan ng blue check ni Twitter yung nga accounts na may million followers :)”

@dpascubillo22 shared the same line, attaching screenshots of news articles about Twitter’s move to restore the blue check for high-profile accounts.
