On April 13, actor Epy Quizon recounted his dad, Dolphy, purchasing a Voltes V action figure.
At the pocket interview for ‘Voltes V: Legacy’, which LionhearTV covered, Quizon recalled how he sneaked at night to play with the action figure. Quizon narrated, “I remember my father bought my Kuya Ronnie the figure, ‘yung metal pa na nakakalas mo tapos na-vau-vault in mo pa. And, I was not allowed to touch it because it was a very expensive toy. So kapag tulog na sila, gagapang ako, paglalaruan ko ‘yung Voltes V. That I remember.”
He also remembered how anime described his generation.
“Voltes V, described a generation, especially my generation, my childhood, basically it described my youth. ‘Yun ‘yung cartoons namin bago lumabas si President Marcos, alam mo na, magdi-dinner na kayo. Ganon ‘yung lifestyle namin dati, so talagang inaabangan namin ‘yung Voltes V. So that described my youth and that described my generation, ‘yung mga Titos ngayon-mga Titos and Titas of Manila.”
He then expressed his hopes that the younger generation would fall in love with the characters in their live adaptation. The actor hoped, “I hope they fall in love with the characters, Boazanian or Earthlings, di ba sana, magustuhan nila ‘yung mga characters.”
As for their series, Voltes V: Legacy stars Miguel Tanfelix, Radson Flores, Matt Lozano, Raphael Landicho, and Ysabel Ortega.
The cast also features Martin del Rosario, Liezel Lopez, Carlo Gonzales, Gabby Eigenmann, Neil Ryan Sese, Albert Martinez, Christian Vasquez, Carla Abellana, Dennis Trillo, Quizon, and many more.
The Kapuso sci-fi adaptation, directed by Mark Reyes, will air soon on GMA Network.
Aside from that, they also have an upcoming cinema sneak-peak event (Voltes V Legacy: The Cinematic Experience) showing the first three weeks of the series before its much-awaited premiere on primetime TV in May, from April 19 to 25, in SM Cinemas Nationwide.
