There have been rumors that Willie Revillame wants to return to the GMA Network. He hosted the variety show ‘Wowowin’ from 2015 until last year.
However, Revillame or GMA Network have not officially confirmed this matter.
In February last year, Revillame decided not to renew his contract with his home network for 7 years and transferred to Manny Villar’s ALLTV. His transfer, however, was met with a cold reception from viewers as the show fell down the drain in terms of TV ratings.
A month after ‘Wowowin’ stopped airing on ALLTV, the controversial host asked Advanced Media Broadcasting System (AMBS) to release his contract. Prior to this issue, Cristy Fermin in ‘Showbiz Now Na’ on April 3 announced, “Isa pong source ang nakapagbalita sa amin na sumulat na po si Willie Revillame sa pamunuan ng ALLTV ng AMBS 2 at nag-resign na po siya, wala na siyang kinalaman sa istasyon.”
Fermin added, “Di ba utang na loob ang ang sinasabi nating dahilan kung bakit lumipat mula sa GMA 7 si Willie Revillame sa ALLTV. Siguro naman po ‘yung pang-iiwan ni Willie sa kanyang Wowowin na talagang kumikita siya ng milyon-milyon na talagang punumpuno siya ng commercials, sikat na sikat para iwanan niya (GMA) at sumama siya sa pamilya Villar ay tinatanawan niya ng utang na loob (ay) wala na tayong masasabi pa. Wala na siyang kailangang patunayan pa.”
‘Wowowin’s move to ALLTV failed and rumors about Revillame’s possible return to GMA Network continue to circulate. Some speculate that the move could be motivated by Revillame’s desire to expand his renowned brand and reach a wider audience.
Regardless of whether Revillame returns to GMA Network or not, his success as a television host and entrepreneur inspires many aspiring Pinoys.
