Kapuso’s head writer embarked on another ranting spree online yesterday, May 17. He suggested brand-new conspiracy theories and bringing back never-proven old ones, about ABS-CBN’s supposed efforts to sabotage GMA shows.
Suzette Doctolero took to social media anew, just a day after attacking FPJ’s Batang Quiapo’s delayed airing. She believed was merely an attempt to evade direct competition with ‘Voltes V Legacy’. According to Nielsen Philippines data for May 15, the Kapuso series pulled a meager 0.7% lead over the Coco Martin-starrer, despite the latter’s delayed airing.
The Kapuso creative head’s streak of allegations, however, continued the following day, as she lashed out against Voltes V Legacy’s rival show. She did not name the show she was referring to. However, it was a no-brainer that it was FPJ’s ‘Batang Quaipo’, from which her show has faced massive competition.
Doctolero specifically pinpointed the alleged effort to cut cable TV viewers’ access to ‘Voltes V Legacy’, by interrupting Sky Cable’s cable TV service. Sky Cable, like ABS-CBN Corporation, is under the Lopez conglomerate. Sky Cable’s broadband service was recently secured by the telco giant, PLDT. This is a precedent for the latter’s complete absorption of the Lopez-owned cable company and internet business.
“Hoy. Papatayan niyo ba uli ang cable tonight sa ere ng Voltes V? Gaya sa pagpatay last night? Lahat ba talaga ng panlalamang e gagawin against V5? Anong bagong ganap ninyo bukas? Please advice. Labyu!,” she tweeted.
Earlier, she responded to a tweet that attached complaints from netizens claiming to be Sky Cable subscribers. Their service got interrupted while watching the Kapuso mega series.
“Lumang style na ‘to. Matagal na nilang ginagawa ito. Ilang beses na nga silang idinemanda ng GMA dahil sa kupal moves na ito,” responded the Kapuso writer. She was likely referring to multiple cases filed by GMA Network with the National Telecommunications Commission. These cases were against ABS-CBN’s cable television and internet service, Sky Cable.
Doctolero also brought back the alleged ABS-CBN effort to sabotage Kapuso viewers, by cutting off their electricity services.
“Syet. Pinatayan na nga ng cable, panalo pa rin. Buti na lang di na sa inyo ang MERALCO ano? Kasi dati, bina-brownout nyo rin,”, added the Kapuso writer.
It’s interesting to note, however, that the Lopezes no longer control the majority of shares in the company, which has now Manny V. Pangilinan at the helm. Many netizens called this allegation absurd, as Kapuso viewers are not the only customers affected by power interruptions.
