On the June 30 episode of ‘Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,’ former ‘It’s Showtime’ co-host Billy Crawford shared his thoughts on the show’s GTV transfer.
‘It’s Showtime’ had its pilot broadcast on GTV on July 1, after the historic deal between ABS-CBN and GMA on the airing of the noontime show on the Kapuso channel was sealed last June 28.
The show chose a new home after TV5 decided to give its noontime slot to TVJ and the Legit Dabarkads’ show which is now called ‘E.A.T.’
In his interview with Boy Abunda, Crawford said that he was happy the moment he got the news.
“Sa totoo lang, nakakatuwa. Nung nakita ko yung balita, wala pa ako dito sa Pilipinas. Nasa Paris ako at that time and pagbukas ko, nakita ko nga kung ano yung nangyayari sa industriya. And you know what’s my honest opinion and my feeling towards this? I am so happy,” he said.
Crawford continued to reminisce about his time with ‘It’s Showtime’ and how the show improved his life by allowing him to meet his wife, Colleen Garcia, who was also a host of the show then.
He added, “I started with Showtime in noontime, I met my wife, I started my family through this show and I’m so happy na kahit papaano, they’re still not being left behind. There is still a home for them kahit papaano.
“And it’s the same thing that GMA did for me. They welcomed me back kahit papaano so it’s a new beginning and I’m very excited for Philippine TV.”
Crawford started his career as a child star under GMA Network. He started his television appearance on GMA’s ‘That’s Entertainment’ as Billy Joe. This jumpstarted his career and led him to his acting stints where he starred in films and TV shows.
He moved to ABS-CBN in 2008 and became one of the hosts of ‘It’s Showtime’ in 2011. Crawford continued his career on TV5 in 2020 where he hosted the noontime show ‘Tropang LOL,’ before he returned to GMA Network where he was introduced as one of the judges for the upcoming show ‘The Voice Generations.’
