Professor Mohanbir Sawhney, Associate Dean for Digital Innovation and the McCormick Foundation Professor of Technology at Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management, will be conducting a workshop on “Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Business Leaders: Driving Growth, Innovation, and Efficiency” on July 17 at the Dusit Thani Hotel in Makati City.

The workshop, co-presented by GMA Network, Inc. , John Clements Consultants, Inc. (JCCI) and Northwestern University/Kellogg School of Management Alumni Association of the Philippines, will bring extensive expertise in business innovation, digital marketing, product strategy, and AI applications to business. With Prof. Sawhney’s profound knowledge and research contribution, the one-day event will provide invaluable insights into the transformative potential of AI in the business landscape.

The workshop aims to equip business leaders with the necessary knowledge and tools to navigate the AI landscape, make informed decisions about AI implementation, and understand the ethical and legal implications of AI adoption. Through case studies and hands-on learning, participants will gain practical insights into leveraging AI to drive business value.

From marketing and procedures to supply chain management and human resources, workshop participants are expected to gain a comprehensive understanding of AI’s impact and its potential to drive growth, innovation, and efficiency across the enterprise value chain.

“Using AI is a shared responsibility between the AI creators, the companies that are going to use them, and the government. These three sets of entities need to work together to ensure that we don’t create unintended consequences. As consumers, we also have the responsibility to make wise choices when we use AI because it is going to create new opportunities. There’ll be lots of new jobs that will emerge out of this,” said Prof. Sawhney.

“I first met Prof. Sawhney at NASSCOM nearly 10 years ago. Later, we crossed paths again at my 30th-year reunion at Kellogg. It was during those encounters that he opened my eyes to the crucial role of AI in business. Inspired by his insights, John Clements Consultants, Inc invested in an AI-powered recruitment tool called JC4sight. Since then, I have been working towards bringing Prof. Sawhney to the Philippines. Finally, after all these years of effort, my dream has become a reality! I cannot wait for this one-of-a-kind workshop,” Carol V. Dominguez, the President and CEO of John Clements Consultants, Inc., shared.

“The Northwestern University-Kellogg Alumni Association of the Philippines is very excited to welcome Prof. Sawhney to Manila. It’s an honor to have the opportunity to learn from a distinguished thought leader, particularly in the rapidly evolving Artificial Intelligence in the business landscape. His expertise will be very valuable in helping future-proof and further grow businesses here in the country. We look forward to a transformative learning experience during the workshop,” Lawrence Tiu, President of the NU-Kellogg Alumni Association of the Philippines, said.

We are honored to have Professor Mohanbir Sawhney lead the AI workshop,” said GMA First Vice President and Head of International Operations Joseph T. Francia. “His deep understanding of AI and its application in business, combined with his expertise in digital innovation, will provide business leaders with valuable insights and strategies to harness the power of AI effectively.”

Prior to the workshop, Prof. Sawhney had an interview with GMA Integrated News’ Howie Severino and Raffy Tima.

During the interview, Prof. Sawhney discussed the impact of AI in various industries, particularly in the Philippines. “AI for emerging economies like the Philippines creates enormous new opportunities for the people who have the right skills and the talents because there will be lots of new jobs in data analytics, engineering, manufacturing, or healthcare. The challenge for these economies is to upskill people and to make their people work collaboratively with AI tools where AI becomes assisted intelligence and not artificial intelligence,” said Prof. Sawhney.

Registration for the workshop (US$ 500 per participant) is still open via this link: https://forms.office.com/r/en6AsJa8hz.
