On July 2, Pop Royalty Sarah Geronimo recalled her conversation with husband Matteo Guidicelli regarding financial literacy.
At the media event for ‘Sarah G Under The Sun,’ Geronimo admitted that she was nervous about joining the roster of Sun Life Philippines’ ambassadors.
“So sabi ko, mahal di ba siyempre kapag-endorser ka, mayroong set of expectations from you as an endorser so medyo mayroong fear po na baka hindi maka-deliver but ang asawa ko was talagang very self-assured and very confident about his family dito sa Sun Life Ph.”
She then detailed how Guidicelli assured her about becoming a Sun Life Brand Ambassador while discussing the value of financial planning.
“Sabi niya, ‘Love, Don’t worry, don’t be afraid to ask questions from the team, because like you before, pareho tayo before eh. I had a lot of questions before, pero ang Sun Life family ko– really helped me and guided me na talagang all the way.’ Di ba Love? Sa financial planning, how to [do] your money.
“Maaga ka nag-simula Love at– I’m very-very proud of my husband hindi lang po ako open and very vocal about it because siyempre gusto ko po ‘yung personal life po namin as a couple eh sa amin lang din. But siyempre, hindi naman po maiiwasan ‘yan because, medyo ganon, parte po talaga ‘yun ng buhay namin as public figures.”
She then highlighted the value of financial literacy, especially for those starting a family like her and Guidicelli.
“So I’m very happy and proud to be part of a company who values the future of Filipino families and kanilang–whose goal is to really educate people about financial literacy. Napaka-importante nun eh kasi I think kapag nagka-anak tayo ‘yung kanyang–talagang kailangan na kailangan na equipped na equipped ang anak natin pagdating sa pera. Kasi kailangan talaga para hindi maloko ang anak mo.”
Guidicelli confirmed Geronimo’s story, citing how Sun Life Philippines helped him with his knowledge about finances.
“She was actually very intimidated to be coming here. Sabi niya, ‘Love Sun Life Sigurado ba ‘yan?’ Sabi ko, ‘Love, I’ve been with Sun Life for eight years, and I started from, not going with anything, but Sun Life has really developed my knowledge about finance, investing, all these things.”
Guidicelli also emphasized the value of learning about financial literacy.
“I’ve always told Sarah, ‘Love, knowledge is very important, so when people are asking you like this or like that, you need to know.’ So as much as possible, when we have our tax filing or accounting sessions, I always make the point na Sarah is present. So she knows what she is talking about. So it’s not at the first sitting maintindihan mo lahat di ba? Ako din, hanggang ngayon di ko pa rin maintindihan so it’s just very important to be exposed to this.”
He then voiced out how proud he is of Geronimo’s financial independence.
“So, I’m very, very proud of Sarah because after every single– actually every single day, you see her grow into a woman–as an independent woman, she really knows what she wants, she knows what she wants to do. And she’s very eager to learn about life and to learn about being an independent woman.”
As part of Sun Life Philippines’ campaign, Geronimo and Guidicelli starred in the insurance company’s thematic video highlighting its promise of being a ‘Partner for Life.’
The couple co-created the video with Sun Life, which shows how they support each other as life partners. The video will be available via national television and on @SunLifePH through Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok.
Geronimo also voiced Sun Life’s newest jingle, ‘Kasa-Kasama,’ with fellow Sun Life Ambassador Inigo Pascual who co-wrote the song.
Currently, Sun Life Philippines has Geronimo, Guidicelli, Piolo Pascual, Inigo Pascual, and Donny Pangilinan as their ambassadors.
