Executives from ABS-CBN and GMA Network demonstrated unity and solidarity by participating in the opening segment of ABS-CBN’s noontime variety show ‘It’s Showtime,’ following the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board’s (MTRCB) decision to reject Motions for Reconsideration (MR) related to the show’s suspension.

Cory Vidanes, the COO for Broadcast at ABS-CBN, and Annette Gozon-Valdes, Senior Vice President for Programming, Talent Management, Worldwide, and Support Group at GMA Network, graced the show’s opening.

Their presence highlighted the camaraderie and mutual respect between the two major Philippine television networks.

Amy Perez, one of the show’s hosts, expressed her gratitude for the executives’ attendance, describing the day as “very special.”

Kim Chiu, another host, joined in thanking Vidanes and Gozon-Valdes and invited them to greet the studio audience and viewers.

Vidanes and Gozon-Valdes enthusiastically greeted the audience with “What’s up, madlang people?” and “What’s up, madlang Kapuso?” This gesture symbolized the spirit of cooperation and goodwill between networks and their respective audiences.

The historic collaboration between ABS-CBN and GMA Network commenced on July 1 when ‘It’s Showtime’ officially premiered on GTV Channel. Despite the competitive landscape of the television industry, the show’s inclusion on GTV Channel marked a unique and significant moment for Philippine television.

Earlier on the same day, the MTRCB announced its final decision to uphold the suspension of ‘It’s Showtime’ for 12 airing days, citing allegations of an indecent incident during the show’s ‘Isip Bata’ segment on July 25. Despite this decision, ABS-CBN and GMA Network executives demonstrated their unwavering support for the program.

The next available course of action for ‘It’s Showtime’ is to file an appeal with the Office of the President within the next 15 days, following MTRCB’s denial of the MRs. The suspension of the show will only take effect if no MR or appeal is filed within the specified timeframes.

‘It’s Showtime’ continues to be broadcast on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, and A2Z. Since its debut on GTV Channel, the show has welcomed guest appearances by Kapuso stars, fostering collaboration and goodwill between networks.
