We look forward to having our award-winning panelists Howie, Pia, Aileen, and Nikko instill among our attendees insightful learnings, as well as to advocate for press freedom – inculcating the importance of fair, balanced, and accurate news delivery to the public,” says GMA Senior Vice President and Head of Integrated News, Regional TV, and Synergy Oliver Victor B. Amoroso.
The event will be hosted by GMA Sparkle artist – host and sportscaster Martin Javier. Making the event extra special are performances from Queendom’s Jessica Villarubin, the grand champion of The Clash Season 3 from Cebu.
Now on its 31st year, the Cebu Press Freedom Week has provided opportunities for media practitioners, student journalists, and the public to come together to discuss issues that affect news consumption and the practice of journalism. It also serves as a collective call for the continued protection of press freedom, which is crucial in a democracy.
The last time The Masterclass Series visited Cebu was in October 2022 at the University of San Jose – Recoletos for the ’The Icons Series,’ which featured GMA’s Chief Marketing Officer Lizelle G. Maralag.
Since 2018, the GMA Masterclass Series has provided students and the academe in different areas in the Philippines an avenue for learning and discourse on various local and national issues.
It has been recognized as the “The Most Development Oriented TV Plug” at the Gandingan 2020: The 14th UPLB Isko’t Iska Multi-media Awards and has brought home the second Excellence Award under Communication Training and Education Category at the 18th Philippine Quill Awards.
