On July 10, seasoned broadcast journalist Korina Sanchez remarked she trailblazes rather than looking at the competition in the media industry.
In an intimate interview at the Via Mare Terraces in Quezon City, which LionhearTV covered, Sanchez discussed her mindset toward creating content.
“I don’t look at competition, I trailblaze. That’s my thing. I just do the next thing– I just do the next new thing, not even thinking na eat my dust or kayo ‘yung sumunod sa akin walang ganon, basta ganito lang ako mag-isip, ito ang gagawin natin, o ito ang susunod. I don’t know what the other guys are doing.”
She then surmised about the nature of the media industry and how it constantly changes through time.
“The only constant is change, sa negosyong ito mahirap ang nagsusunog ng tulay, di ako naniniwala doon. Ako may personal style is I keep it to myself and it’s always best to be diplomatic.
“Of course siyempre, kung naubos mo na ‘yung diplomasya, kung naubos mo na lahat ‘yun, siguro ganon ang mangyayari. Kung siguro you’re talking to the 30-year-old Korina, sige giyera tayo, pero ngayon, hindi kasi ganon. For me hindi na terno sakin yung ganon kasi lahat ngayon nagbabago.”
As her status as one of the most prominent broadcast journalists in the country, Sanchez admitted to being a ‘bruha,’ citing her perspective on work ethics in the media industry.
“To be number 1 you have to be a bruha, pero bakit nagtatagal ang mga tao ko sakin at lahat inuutangan ako, at lahat niyaya akong makipag inuman, at ninang ako ng lahat ng mga kasal at anak nila, kasi alam nilang hindi personal.
“Eh yan naman ang ang opening statement, ‘Oh nag-aapply ka, do you want love and care, and nutrition, doon ka kay Gina Lopez, sa foundation niya, sa akin gusto ko sundalo kasi I’m a general ganon ako, kailangan ko ng army dahil meron tayong giyera ang tawag dyan ay ratings, kailangan maganda ang produkto. so ngayon hindi pa rin ako nananawang manermon, ma-sermon pa rin ako, hanggang ganon na lang ako.”
As for Sanchez, she has her news magazine and lifestyle show ‘Rated Korina,’ formerly co-produced with Brightlight Productions, under a collaboration between her and ABS-CBN starting July 5.
She also has ‘Korina Interviews’ through the Net25 online platform.
Aside from her programs, she also has ‘Tiktalks’ with Pat-P Daza, G3 San Diego, Kakai Bautista, and Alex Calleja every Sunday on TV5.
