On Tuesday, September 13, The Philippine Star published an article under the headline “Jesus drag artist snubs hearing.”
Written by Ghio Ong, the news story claimed that Vega did not attend the preliminary hearing on September 8 at the Manila prosecutor’s office regarding a case filed against them by Black Nazarene devotees, alleging a violation of the Article 201 of the Revised Penal Code.
However, in a tweet on Wednesday, September 13, Vega urged The Philippine Star to exercise caution when publishing unverified news articles that could mislead the public.
Vega clarified that they had not received any notice or subpoena related to the mentioned case and had no intention of disregarding the complaint. Vega also pointed out that on the same day, they were present at the Quezon City Hall of Justice for another complaint filed against them there.
“Please be mindful of how you frame your news articles. Wala po akong natanggap na subpeona for this case. No one asked me. And I was also in QC for a separate complaint that was filed there. I have no intention of “snubbing” these complaints. Yun lang naman po. Salamat,” Vega tweeted.

In addition to Vega, Rod Singh, the creator and director of Drag Den Philippines, also expressed her disappointment on Twitter regarding the Philstar news article.
Similarly, Singh emphasized that no subpoena or notice had been issued to Vega regarding the case in Manila, making it irresponsible to report that the drag artist had skipped the hearing.
“Buti pa yung press, na-inform ng court na may hearing pero yung camp ni Luka, hindi? Ni hindi nagpadala ng notice or subpoena, tapos ilalabas niyo sa balita na no-show. Eh hindi nga alam kasi hindi kayo nagbigay ng notice? Anong laro ba ito nakakaloka”

Vega is currently facing multiple complaints, including declarations of Persona Non Grata, in relation to their controversial Ama Namin drag performance, which has been criticized by several religious groups as blasphemous.
