On August 30, Kapamilya host Robi Domingo recounted mistakenly calling Christopher de Leon by the wrong name.
During the PIE Channel media event At the Sequoia Hotel in QC, which LionhearTV covered, Domingo detailed how he called the award-winning actor ‘Crisostopher de Leon’ on stage while hosting the Miss Earth pageant.
“A lot of times, lalong-lalo na kapag nagkakaroon ka ng major boo-boo, parang sabi ko, ‘It’s not for me, baka pwede akong mag-artista.’ Pero noong nag-acting ako parang doon ako lalong– nasabi ko sa sarili ko, host pala talaga ako, dahil hindi ko talaga kayang umacting.
“And that moment happened noong, I think one of the Miss Earth pageants, at nasabi ko kay Christopher De Leon, ‘Please welcome, Mr. Crisostopher de Leon’ At ‘yung mukha ni sir Christopher sa akin– intense. Hanggang ngayon, ‘yun ‘yung pinaka bubog ko. Kapag nakikita ko siya, I say, Sir ‘Christopher de Leon.'”
He remarked that it was one of the moments that made him doubt his capability as a host.
“‘Yun lang ‘yung isang moment na parang nasabi ko, ‘ayaw ko na dito.’ Pero after that, I felt na I’m in the right–I’m with the right people in the right time.”
Despite that, Domingo persevered and honed his skills as one of the Kapamilya Network’s new generation of hosts.
As for his upcoming PIE Channel game show, Domingo highlighted the original concept behind ‘Watchawin.’
“It’s [really] something new for me because it’s really my first ever dream show. First ever game show, so thank you, sa PIE, for giving me this opportunity. Ako, laki akong game show talaga ako, from before pa, nanonood ako ng Family Feud, nanonood ako ng Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, nanonood ako ng game shows– Game KNB?
“Maganda ‘yung konsepto, it’s original. Ito ‘yung programa na manonood ka lang, kasi lahat naman mahilig sa iba’t ibang content pero kasi doon sa programa na ‘Watchawin,’ hindi lang siya pang chill, so watching is a skill. So kailangan maging mapanuri ka, makita mo ‘yung mga detalye, tsaka ‘yung mga tinatanong kakaiba.”
At the event, PIE Channel introduced their newest game masters, Luis Manzano, Domingo, and Eric Nicolas.
Manzano hosts the exciting mystery game show ‘Tamang Hinala,’ starting September 9. Domingo takes on the game show of the eagle-eyed viewers, ‘Watchawin,’ on September 11 at 8:15 PM, and Nicolas joins the recently launched ‘Pindot PIEnalo’s program filled with classic perya games, ‘Mukhang Perya’ with its roster of hosts.
