On September 20, Diamond Star Maricel Soriano admitted she feels bashful whenever younger stars pay tribute to her.
At the media event for ‘Pira-Pirasong Paraiso,’ which LionhearTV covered, Soriano remarked she feels shy whenever young stars express their excitement meeting her.
“Hindi ko alam ang isasagot ko, minsan nahihiya ako. Paano ba minsan magsagot di ba? Nahihiya ako.”
She noted that she would often break the ice between her and young stars when they get intimidated upon meeting her.
“Hindi ko alam, oo nahihiya sila. Sabi ko sa kanila, ‘Hoy, wag nga kayong ganyan, hindi naman ako nangangagat.’ Sabi ko nga, para matawa sila. Hindi ko alam kung bakit ganon.”
She also recounted her advice to young stars whenever they feel intimidated working with her in their scenes.
“Hindi ko alam, oo nahihiya sila. Sabi ko sa kanila, ‘Hoy, wag nga kayong ganyan, hindi naman ako nangangagat.’ Sabi ko nga, para matawa sila. Hindi ko alam kung bakit ganon.”
She explained that she tries to alleviate the nerves of her younger scene partners to ensure the quality of their portrayals.
“Tinatanggal ko ‘yung takot nila kasi ayaw kong nai-intimidate sila. Hindi maganda ‘yun sa pag-acting nila. Mahihirapan sila. Sabi ko huwag, huwag kayong mai-intimidate. Isipin ninyo, handa kayo lagi kaya kahit sino ‘yan, kahit ano pa ‘yan gawin mo ‘yung dapat mong gawin.”
