Kapamilya noontime show, ‘It’s Showtime,’ which airs on GTV, A2Z, Kapamilya Channel, and Kapamilya Online Live, is on the verge of a 12-day suspension after the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) upheld its decision following appeals made by the program.
Notably, there has been no recent update regarding ‘It’s Showtime’ appealing to Malacañang, leading to speculation that the show’s producers may have decided to accept the suspension and are currently making preparations accordingly.
In case of a suspension, it’s likely that ‘It’s Showtime’ will be temporarily replaced with a different program, possibly featuring a distinct set of hosts.
This situation bears similarities to a past incident in 2010 when the show faced a six-day suspension. The suspension was originally imposed for 20 days on January 11, 2010, after controversial remarks made by judge Rosanna Roces during the ‘Magpasikat’ segment.
However, the Court of Appeals later issued a 60-day temporary restraining order against the MTRCB’s suspension, resulting in a reduced penalty. ‘Showtime’ eventually returned to the airwaves on January 19, 2010.
Interestingly, the speculated timing of the suspension coincides with the show’s 14th anniversary celebration. Throughout its history, ‘It’s Showtime’ has navigated various challenges and changes but has remained a beloved favorite among Kapamilya viewers and a flagship program for ABS-CBN.

The show originally debuted on October 24, 2009, as a talent competition program, taking over the morning slot from ‘Pilipinas, Game Ka Na Ba?’ In October 2010, it moved to the noontime slot, leading into ‘Pilipinas Win Na Win.’ After a brief stint back in the morning slot, it returned to noontime on January 28, 2012, following the conclusion of ‘Happy Yipee Yehey!’ The show has continued in its current noontime slot ever since.
