Claudine Barretto considers her past relationship one of the ‘greatest lies’ she encountered

On November 15, actress Claudine Barretto considered her past relationship one of the ‘greatest lies’ she encountered.

During an exclusive interview at the ‘Lovers/Liars’ media event at the Luxent Hotel, which LionhearTV covered, Barretto cited how her past relationship had betrayals and lies.

“Siguro ‘yung last love ko, ‘yun na ‘yun. ‘Yun na siguro ‘yung pinaka– ‘yung may betrayal, may lies, may love. I think kapag ang isang relasyon nasira talaga, when love breaks, when you’re broken, it’s always because of betrayal, it’s always because of love, and it’s always because of the lies.”

Barretto and Santiago tied the knot twice, in May 2004 and March 2006. The estranged couple attended the graduation and recognition ceremonies of their children Sabina and Santino in May of this year.

She then discussed how her experiences helped her mature, especially in acting.

“I think when you grow up sa kakagawa ng teleserye, habang tumatagal, you learn more, [you] do better, and [you] give your best, better than the last one. Kasi nga, we mature, and we learn more as an actor.

“So, yes, 100% sinabi ko ‘to kay Ms. Roselle, Mr. Joey, sinabi ko ‘to kay Noreen at kay Direk Crisanto na I will do my best as I will always do. But siguro, sa seven years, ang dami kong pinagdaanan, so talagang mas maraming, mas makikita siguro ‘yung mga sakit na pinagdaanan ko. Maa-apply ko dito.”

She then noted how her mindset changed in how she handles any project.

“In every show [that] you do, you try to prove yourself to yourself [not] to your audience. [It’s something as] an artist, it’s [very] important na you don’t stop learning. So at least now, mayroon tayong Netflix, mayroon tayong YouTube, may mga K-Dramas, and you get to watch, and you get to see na nag-iiba ‘yung gusto ng mga tao, and you get to learn certain techniques, and naaapply mo sa bagong role mo.”

‘Lovers/Liars’ stars Claudine Barretto, Shaira Diaz, Yasser Marta, Rob Gomez, Kimson Tan, Michelle Vito, Sarah Edwards, Polo Ravales, Christian Vasquez, and Lianne Valentin.

Under the direction of Crisanto Aquino, ‘Lovers/Liars’ airs on November 20 via GMA Telebabad.
