On November 29, director Darryl Yap revealed his wish to include Sarah Geronimo in a ‘Girls Love’ project.
At the media conference for ‘Para Kang Papa Mo,’ which LionhearTV covered, Yap noted that he was writing a script for a ‘GL’ movie by the director Roanna Mercardo.
“My projects are really listed na, pero parang I’m thinking of two to three-year projection. I really wanted to, but you know, my assistant director, who happens to be an ‘Urian Nominee,’ si Roanna Mercado, is now part of the directorial team of Viva. I think I’ll [be] writing a GL, a Girl Love movie, and she would direct.”
He then admitted that he had Geronimo as an inspiration for one of the characters in his screenplay, noting that he even pitched the concept to Viva before with the Pop Royalty in mind.
“If ever gagawa ako ng GL, sino ba? Madami eh, pero parang feeling ko hindi papayag. I really wanted to do something that is– my GL is Roanna is, pero ‘yung peg doon sa sinulat ko was– I was thinking it’s very impossible, but you know, I pitched it naman din with Viva, I was thinking of Sarah Geronimo, very impossible, with all the endorsements and all.
“That one if I would be given a chance. And the other hindi ko talaga pwedeng sabihin, kasi it’s very impossible. But sila ‘yung inspiration ng sulat because ‘yung GL ‘yung story na ‘yun is set sa 1800s so Spanish Era, so very manang ‘yung mga babae, very prim and proper.”
As for their movie, ‘Para Kang Papa Mo’ stars Mark Anthony Fernandez, Nikko Natividad, Jao Mapa, Eric Fructuoso, Ruby Ruiz, Zeus Collins, Kid Yambao, Rose Van Ginkel, Juliana Parizcova Segovia, Billy Jake Cortez, Gerard Acao, and Lowell Kip.
Under the direction and screenplay of Darryl Yap, ‘Para Kang Papa Mo’ opens in cinemas on December 13.
