In response to persistent speculations regarding actor Derrick Monasterio’s sexual orientation, his girlfriend Elle Villanueva has come forward to dispel the rumors, asserting her confidence in Monasterio’s heterosexuality.
The ongoing talk about Monasterio’s sexuality has been circulating for some time, but Villanueva has dismissed the conjectures, emphasizing her belief that Monasterio is unequivocally a heterosexual individual.
During a recent appearance on ‘Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,’ Elle and Derrick engaged in an open discussion, directly confronting the lingering speculation about Monasterio’s sexual orientation. Monasterio openly discussed his sexual identity, staunchly stating that he identifies as a heterosexual man, dispelling any insinuations about his sexuality.
Villanueva acknowledged her awareness of the rumors, attributing them to Monasterio’s frequent association with individuals from the LGBTQ+ community. She noted that his upbringing and industry exposure contributed to his comfort in interacting with people from diverse backgrounds.
“Ang funny nga kasi naririnig ko na po ‘yan, e. So, nung first project pa lang namin iniisip ko, ‘Gay ba talaga siya?’ Kasi, ‘yun ‘yung sinasabi ng lahat. Then, I realized na parang lumaki lang siya sa industry na kasama puro gay. So, parang nasanay lang siya sa pananalita niya, sa actions niya na ganu’n,” Elle shared.
“Then, there comes a time na…only child po kasi ako so strict ang mommy ko. So, para payagan ako na kasama si Derrick, sinabi ko kay Mommy, ‘Mommy, bakla siya. You don’t have to worry.’ Sorry, Mommy, if you’re watching. Pero ngayon alam na po niya. So, nagulat na lang po siya, ‘Ay sinusundo si Elle sa Baguio. Bakla? Paano nangyari ‘yun?”
Elle Villanueva disclosed that she conducted her own investigation into Monasterio’s background, revealing that her checklist includes qualities such as good looks, obedience, generosity, and some additional traits she hadn’t explicitly asked for. She shared a lighthearted anecdote about introducing Monasterio to her mother, clarifying his sexual orientation to allay her mother’s concerns.
“Sa totoo lang, natatakot po kami magsabi publicly because hindi ka pa 100 percent sigurado sa nararamdaman mo, hindi ka pa ready.
“So para sa akin, hindi ko pa kaya sabihin. Saka may checklist ako. Lahat may check – gwapo, masunurin, mapagbigay at meron pang nadagdag kahit ‘di ko pa hinihingi. Talagang pina-prioritize niya ako and sometimes I feel so selfish already, parang ako na lang lagi niyang inuuna,” said Elle.
Derrick Monasterio humorously chimed in, joking about how he should behave when meeting Elle’s mother for the first time. The couple has become more open about their relationship recently, with Elle stating that she initially hesitated to publicly announce it until she was fully certain about her feelings.
Elle Villanueva also expressed her appreciation for Derrick’s prioritization of their relationship, describing him as considerate and attentive. Monasterio, in turn, shared his commitment to making thoughtful decisions in various aspects of his life, acknowledging the positive influence of Elle on his choices.
The couple is set to star in the upcoming GMA Afternoon Prime series titled ‘Makiling,’ scheduled to premiere on January 8.
