AirAsia celebrated a double victory at the 2024 World Travel Awards Asia and Oceania ceremony in Manila, securing recognition as Asia’s Leading Low-Cost Airline for the ninth consecutive year and Asia’s Leading Low-Cost Airline Cabin Crew for the eighth year in a row.

AirAsia’s leading edge in the two major categories was secured once again, as voted by consumers, industry and travel professionals..

“It’s very special to win voter’s choice awards and the World Travel Awards winning streak tells us that we are doing the right things for our guests.

Having flown over 800 million guests since our inception, our continued success is built on a foundation of constant improvement and innovation. With AirAsia’s flight operations expanding more than sixfold since 2021, our Net Promoter Score has remained strong, reflecting our commitment to enhancing customer satisfaction.

As we continue to focus on delivering the very best in terms of safe, affordable, and reliable air travel with exceptional service and industry leading digital transformation initiatives contributing to guest satisfaction.

Looking ahead, we are excited about our major expansion plans, aiming to connect more continents while upholding our commitment to sustainability. AirAsia Group is focused on achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2025 through initiatives such as a leading fuel efficiency program, investing in new aircraft with lower carbon emissions, and reducing inflight waste”, AirAsia Aviation Group Limited CEO Bo Lingam shares.

“This award is a testament to the hard work of our 20,000-plus Allstars, who are at the heart of everything we do. We remain dedicated to leveraging cutting-edge digital innovations to further enhance the guest experience.

As we look ahead with major expansion plans to ultimately cover the majority of continents, we take our role in sustainability leadership seriously. AirAsia Group remains committed to achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2025 through a range of initiatives including an industry leading fuel efficiency programme, significant investment in over 300 new specification aircraft to gradually replace existing aircraft by 2035 with markedly lower carbon emissions, inflight waste reductions, environmentally friendly packaging and many more”, He furthered.

“AirAsia continues to dominate the awards for exceptional low-cost service. Congratulations to AirAsia for doing it again in two key categories across Asia and the Asia Pacific. We look forward to seeing AirAsia Group continue to soar to new heights in coming years”, World Travel Awards Founder and President Graham Cooke said.

Held at the City of Dreams inside Entertainment City in Parañaque City, AirAsia Philippines CEO Ricky Isla and Head of Communications and Public Affairs First Officer Steve Dailisan together with Allstar cabin crew, proudly represented AirAsia and accepted the award on behalf of the Aviation Group.

“Our winning story is one built on trust – trust in our vision, trust in our team, and most importantly, trust from our millions of guests. We are winning because people believe in what we do – providing the best service and travel experience in Asean and beyond”, Mr. Isla said.

AirAsia’s low-fare offerings such as the ongoing P1SO Sale (also known as AirAsia FREE SEATS in other countries) and the upcoming 9.9 LFG Sale were among the drivers of the recognition. AirAsia’s heartfelt cabin service also drove votes which saw the latter being recognized as Asia’s Leading Low-Cost Airline Cabin Crew.

Aside from sustaining their accolades, AirAsia also lauds the Department of Tourism and Secretary Ma. Christina G. Frasco, who was accorded the Transformational Leader Award in Tourism Governance for promoting Philippine tourism.

Established in 1993, the World Travel Awards is hailed as one of the most prestigious, comprehensive and sought-after awards programmes commemorating excellence across key sectors of travel, tourism and hospitality.
