Despite ongoing challenges at his company, Careless Music, James Reid is poised for a major return to both music and acting, with exciting projects lined up across industries.
The multi-talented singer-actor recently confirmed that he is in talks with ABS-CBN for his highly anticipated comeback in acting.
In an interview, Reid revealed that he has been working on a new EP album that showcases some of his best work yet. “I have a fantastic EP mini album coming out soon. I’m very proud of it. It’s some of my favorite work I’ve done so far with music,” Reid shared. His latest music project is set to blend familiar sounds with a unique twist, including songs in Tagalog, reminiscent of his earlier hits like ‘Randomantic.’
However, Reid’s return to acting is the biggest surprise for fans, especially with his renewed collaboration with ABS-CBN. “I actually plan to work a lot with ABS. Yes, there are discussions already,” he revealed.
The former ‘Pinoy Big Brother’ winner took a break from acting in 2020 to focus on his music career, explaining that stepping away allowed him to rediscover himself. “I needed a break. Especially coming from a love team, I was starting to lose my identity. It’s tough. I don’t think anyone, except for my other batch in show business and love teams, would possibly understand what it’s like. It’s tough,” he said. “Living up to all those expectations. Constantly being under public scrutiny. And all the rumors and stories. Fanfiction. And also the fans, it’s living up to the expectations. It’s a lot of pressure. I needed a break. I think I did that. I had time to really discover myself through music. I faced a lot of challenges. Took a lot of risks. I don’t regret anything.”
Reid emphasized that his acting comeback has been part of his long-term plan. “That’s my plan actually ever since 2020. Everyone’s asking, did you quit acting? Did you quit showbiz? I always said, no, I plan to go back.”
He expressed excitement over potential film and TV projects with the network, though no official titles have been announced yet. “Yes. I’m just happy to come back home,” he said. “And I feel like I still have a lot to contribute… Not just to music anymore, but also for TV and film.”
When asked about the possibility of reuniting with his former on-screen partner and ex-girlfriend Nadine Lustre, Reid gently dismissed the idea, stating, “I don’t think so. Maybe out of respect for my partner, my girlfriend. Also, for my mental health.”
Reid’s acting career skyrocketed with projects like ‘Diary ng Panget’ and the popular TV series ‘On The Wings of Love’ alongside Lustre. His last teleserye was ‘Till I Met You’ in 2016, after which he shifted focus to his music career, releasing successful albums and founding his own label, Careless Music.
