Loi Villarama, better known as Mama Loi, one of the co-hosts of the Ogie Diaz ‘Showbiz Update’ YouTube channel, has admitted that he experienced anxiety after facing legal complaints linked to alleged defamatory statements about Kapuso actress Bea Alonzo.
The content creator, who firmly maintains his innocence, revealed he filed a perjury countercharge in June, denying any involvement in making negative remarks about the actress.
In a candid interview with Aiko Melendez, Mama Loi addressed the issue and clarified that he had not said anything offensive about Alonzo, refuting the basis of the complaint. He emphasized that their team always verifies the information they receive before reporting it to the public.
The showbiz host also shared that the complaints triggered anxiety, especially the thought of how his parents might react if they learned about the situation.
“Naging cause ng anxiety ko dun, more than for myself was siyempre kilala siya ‘di ba? Ang naisip ko kaagad, ‘Hala, paano ‘pag nakita ‘to nila mommy at saka ni daddy?'” he admitted.
Mama Loi, who previously worked as a stylist and costume designer in the entertainment industry, also discussed how his past relationships with celebrities occasionally make his job as a showbiz reporter awkward, especially when he crosses paths with them at events. Despite this, he insists that his role as a reporter remains strictly professional.
“Pero minsan pag halimbawa may mga hot issues tapos biglang makikita mo halimbawa sa wake o sa ano, siyempre medyo awkward. Pero lagi ko lang iniisip is trabaho. Parang ‘di man kami nagbalita ‘yon, meron at merong magbabalita,” he explained.
He also pointed out the inconsistency in public reactions, noting how people sometimes get upset with showbiz vloggers for reporting stories, but don’t show the same frustration when mainstream outlets like ‘TV Patrol’ or ’24 Oras’ cover similar content.
Despite the challenges, Mama Loi, alongside Ogie Diaz and their team, continues to deliver showbiz news updates and reports on their widely followed YouTube channel.
