Veteran comedienne Aiai delas Alas has addressed the ongoing controversy with Chloe San Jose, the girlfriend of Olympic gymnast Carlos Yulo, after Chloe’s recent remarks about Aiai went viral.
In a Facebook post, Aiai responded to Director Darryl Yap, who humorously questioned Chloe’s reaction to Aiai referring to her as Carlos’ “girlfriend.” Darryl wrote, “Ano kayang kinaoffend ni Goldie sa sinabi ni Mama Ai na “Girlfriend ka pa lang” Ano ba gusto niya? TREASURER?”
Aiai joined in, writing, “Hahahahaa baby D (Darryl)… Nakupo, di ka niya kaya, pati yang anak ko, nakupo ulit,” suggesting that Chloe wouldn’t be able to handle both her and her daughter, Sophia delas Alas, who had also confronted Chloe on social media.
“Matapang ka? Public mo naman post mo regarding my mom. Kita tayo sa Manila? Matapang ka eh,” Sophia wrote.
Instead of addressing Sophia’s challenge directly, Chloe defended herself, explaining that her post criticizing Aiai was not intended for public viewing.
“Why didn’t I make the post public? Because I do not involve myself in other people’s private lives PUBLICLY (especially without understanding and knowing the full story) and contribute to you all’s clown and fake entertainment,” Chloe wrote.
The feud between Aiai and Chloe began months earlier when Aiai commented on Chloe’s public conflict with Carlos Yulo’s mother, Angelica Yulo. Ai-Ai had advised Chloe to treat Angelica with respect, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a good relationship with one’s partner’s family.
“Girl, ‘wag mong awayin ang nanay kasi nanay ‘yan, eh. Kung wala ‘yong nanay niya, wala kang darling ngayon,” Ai-Ai said at the time. “At saka hindi ka pa asawa, girl. Girlfriend ka pa lang. ’Pag asawa ka na, puwede. Pero ‘pag girlfriend ka pa lang, ‘wag mo munang awayin kasi alam mo naman ang mga mommy… kasi isa ‘yan sa mga way[s] na magiging harmonious ang inyong relationship.”
