Rising VMX star Sahara Bernales is making waves in the entertainment industry as the lead in VMX’s newest release, ‘Maryang Palad’.
The 21-year-old actress teams up with Vince Rillon in the film, marking her second collaboration with director Roe Pajemna, following their first project, ‘Katas.’
Sahara, despite being relatively new to the industry, has already starred in 10 films under VMX, including titles such as ‘Hibang,’ ‘Himas,’ ‘Malikot,’ ‘Salakab,’ ‘Halo-Halo X,’ ‘Throuple,’ and ‘Mama’s Boy.’
Sahara’s life story is as captivating as her on-screen performances. Hailing from Pampanga, Sahara is 25% Aeta through her mother and has a father who is a proud transwoman. This unique family dynamic has shaped Sahara’s perspective and resilience.
Her father, Romeo, previously owned a beauty parlor and lived as a woman before meeting Sahara’s mother, Alma, who boldly courted him. Their love story led to a marriage and six children, including Sahara, the second eldest. Despite societal norms, Sahara’s parents have been fully supportive of her career, even as she takes on daring roles in the industry.
Sahara’s journey to stardom began with a passion for modeling. She participated in Cosmo Manila 2022, where she caught the attention of her current manager, Jojo Veloso. Veloso introduced her to Viva Entertainment’s Vic del Rosario, leading to a five-year contract with Viva Artists Agency. In just over a year, Sahara has completed 10 films, solidifying her place as one of VMX’s most promising talents.
Sahara’s parents have stood by her throughout her career. Her father often assisted her during her early modeling days, handling her makeup and styling.
