During a press conference on December 11 at a restaurant in the newly opened Greenhills Shopping Mall in San Juan, Kiana Valenciano spoke candidly about the most important legacy her father, Gary Valenciano, has passed down to her and her siblings, Paolo and Gab.
Kiana shared that while Gary’s successful career is a significant part of his life, it is his commitment to family that stands out as his most valuable legacy. “I think that there have been times where because of his work, my parents were absent and all that but I’ve never felt like I couldn’t call him,” Kiana explained. “Just recently I was going through some challenges and I called him and he just happened to be int he middle of a meeting. I felt so embarrassed but he made everyone in his meeting wait just so he could sit there and talk to me for a 15 minutes and I think that’s so rare.”
She went on to reflect on the importance of putting family first, saying, “Because that actually forced me to reflect on would I do that? Imagine you’re in an important meeting and you get a phone call from either your kid or your mom or your brother, would you say, ‘Sorry, priority is family’?.”
“So I think that’s the legacy. Also with my new chapter in life getting married and eventually someday maybe having children, that’s something that I’m going to keep in mind and hopefully pass down as well,” she added.
As she prepares to open for her father’s ‘Gary V Pure Energy: One More Time’ concerts on December 20 and 22, Kiana also spoke about Gary V’s decision to step back from performing in large concert venues after this year. Kiana expressed her understanding of his choice, acknowledging that while she does not intend to follow in his exact footsteps, she is grateful for the foundation he has provided her in her own musical career.
Growing up as the youngest and only daughter of the iconic Gary Valenciano, Kiana admitted to feeling pressure not only from external expectations but also from within herself. Despite the challenges, she has carved out her own path, releasing her first album five years ago and continuing to make her mark in the music industry.
Gary Valenciano, known as “Mr. Pure Energy,” is set to take the stage once more with ‘Gary V Pure Energy: One More Time’ on December 20 and 22, 2024, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. After his earlier ‘One Last Time’ concerts this year, fans can look forward to even more high-energy performances as the multi-talented artist brings his signature soul, energy, and love to his encore shows.
