Veteran actress Claudine Barretto has ended her friendship with two individuals she once considered family, following their refusal to support her in a criminal case she was involved in.
Claudine took to Instagram on February 6 to express her disappointment, sharing insights about loyalty and friendship.
In her post, the actress revealed that someone had used her name to secure loans without her knowledge. When the perpetrator was identified and reported to the authorities, Claudine reached out to her friends, asking them to testify on her behalf. However, they declined, fearing involvement in the case.
“The other day, I lost two of what I thought is like family to me. It’s sad when people cannot understand the concept of loyalty! Ang tatanda na natin, di pa rin alam meaning nito,” Claudine wrote.
Claudine explained that the person responsible for the crime had confessed, but despite knowing the truth, her friends allegedly refused to help her seek justice.
“Tapos sasabihan ka wala silang ibang ginawa but to help you?! What? Alam niyo na nga di ako ‘yun at umamin na ‘yung totoo ng gumamit ng name ko, yet saan dun as friends did you protect me?” she questioned.
The actress emphasized the gravity of the situation, saying, “A crime is a crime.”
In her message to fans, Claudine urged them to be cautious in choosing their friends.
“Please know that if a friend or friends know that you are telling the truth [and] won’t stand up to witness on your behalf [and] sides with a criminal, red flag,” she advised.
She further described such individuals as dangerous and advised avoiding them altogether.

Claudine also seemed to address a specific individual in her post, hinting at underlying negativity that may have caused others to distance themselves from her.
“Pang-ilang kaibigan ang umiwas nalang [because] of your attitude and negativity, but also thank you so much dahil alam ko na kung anong mga klaseng mga tao sila,” she added.
While Claudine refrained from naming the individuals involved or detailing the exact nature of the crime, her post sparked online discussions. Supporters praised the actress for standing her ground and echoed her sentiments on the importance of loyalty and trust in friendships.
