Actress Liza Soberano and former love team partner Enrique Gil are collaborating on a new film concept aimed at showcasing Philippine talent on a larger scale.
In a recent interview at the launch event of Dr. Shiba in Makati City, Soberano revealed that the project is still in its early stages.
“We are trying to come up with a concept we can do together. I cannot guarantee it will happen next year, but the concept needs to be fleshed out. It’s something new,” she said.
Enrique Gil, who ventured into film production in 2024, previously expressed a desire to involve Soberano in a horror project he plans to produce. Despite their busy schedules, Gil remains hopeful that they will work together again soon.
“Of course, si Liza. But she is in the US. She is really focused on her US career. Dami niya auditions and events doon… We are focused on our careers,” Gil said in an earlier interview.
Soberano has been making strides internationally, following her Hollywood debut in Lisa Frankenstein. She confirmed she would begin shooting another film in Los Angeles this April, though details remain under wraps.
“I have a shoot in Los Angeles. I cannot disclose details yet, but we will go into filming sometime in April,” she confirmed.
In addition to her international projects, Soberano is set to star in a local film slated to begin production in the third quarter of 2025. The movie is expected to premiere either by the end of the year or in early 2026.
“I am doing a movie here in the Philippines in the third quarter. Hopefully, it will be shown at the end of the year or early next,” she shared.
Soberano also expressed interest in returning to Philippine television, provided the right project comes along.
“I am open to doing teleseryes. It comes down to the concept. I am at the stage where I want to explore different characters and genres. I am looking for something unique,” she explained.
Soberano was also introduced as the new face of Dr. Shiba, a leading holistic pet wellness brand, during the event. The campaign highlights Soberano’s genuine relationship with her dog, Yuna. In a heartfelt letter, she expressed her commitment to Yuna’s well-being, emphasizing Dr. Shiba’s role in ensuring her pet’s health.
“You bring joy and light into my life by just being you,” Soberano wrote. “I promise to keep you safe. I promise to do everything I can to make sure you live the longest, happiest, and healthiest life possible.”
Philipp Renner, CEO of Dr. Shiba, praised Soberano for her authentic care for animals. Dr. Shiba is known for its all-natural, science-based pet supplements designed to support gut health, immunity, skin vitality, and joint care. Recently, the brand launched Prof. Bengal, a new line dedicated to feline wellness.
The company has also strengthened its partnership with Pawssion Project, an animal rescue organization in the Philippines. A portion of every product sale helps fund animal rescue and rehabilitation efforts.
