Diamond Soul Siren Nina is set to join TV5’s singing competition ‘Sing Galing’ as one of its new judges.
The singer expressed her excitement over the opportunity, particularly in discovering talented contestants.
Speaking about her new role, Nina shared that she looks forward to witnessing the vocal abilities of the contestants, especially those who may surprise audiences with their singing skills.
“Ang dami syempre, mga celebrities na nakakagulat, na magagaling palang kumanta,” she said. “Nasurprise talaga ako noong pinapanood ko silang lahat, ang galing pala, ang galing kumanta, nakakaexcite.”
As a seasoned performer with a successful career spanning decades, Nina is eager to mentor aspiring singers by sharing insights from her own experiences.
“Some of my knowledge during my showbiz career, ‘yung mga alam ko as singer, expressor, or kung meron silang questions to ask for me, I would gladly share it with them,” she explained.
Nina first rose to fame in the early 2000s, making a name for herself in the R&B genre. Her self-titled album became one of the best-selling records in the country, solidifying her status as one of OPM’s most celebrated artists.
Despite her long career, Nina remains passionate about singing, considering it a source of energy and motivation.
“Singing gives me some kind of energy kumbaga when I feel down, kumanta lang ako, a-up na ang energy ko,” she shared.
“For me, it’s different whenever I go onstage. I have this energy because maybe when I see people enjoying my music and shows, baka ‘yun ang nagbibigay sa akin ng energy. Motivation ko siguro ay ‘yung audience.”
She also advised young artists to stay humble, keep singing, and embrace their authentic selves.
In addition to her role in ‘Sing Galing’, Nina is preparing for her Pre-Valentine’s concert, ‘Love Matters’, on February 7 at the New Frontier Theater. She will also embark on her Australia tour, ‘Nina Live!’ in the coming months.
The much-anticipated return of ‘Sing Galing’ is set to premiere this March on TV5, with Nina joining the panel of judges.
