Unkabogable star Vice Ganda recently opened up about his biggest challenge in the entertainment industry—learning when to take a break.
In a heartfelt vlog, the ‘It’s Showtime’ host revealed how the pressures of fame and success have affected his ability to rest and prioritize his well-being.
“Money and fame can be overwhelmingly tempting,” Vice shared. He explained that balancing his career with personal life has been a constant struggle, especially after becoming a household name.
“Bukod sa napaka-stressful ng showbiz industry, bukod sa nakakapagod ‘yung trabaho namin physically, mentally, and emotionally, isa sa pinakamalaking hamon na hinaharap ko sa pagiging si Vice Ganda eh ‘yung knowing when to stop for a while,” he said.
The comedy superstar described how the fear of missing opportunities often prevents him from taking a break, particularly during career peaks.
“Kapag feeling mo nagpi-peak ka sa career mo, parang nanghihinayang kang huminto. Nanghihinayang kang magpahinga o magpalagpas ng pagkakataon kasi natatakot ka na baka hindi na siya bumalik,” Vice explained.
However, his role in the 2024 film ‘And The Breadwinner Is…’ provided him with a new perspective on rest and self-care. Reflecting on this experience while on a yacht in Dubai, Vice shared the importance of slowing down to appreciate life’s blessings.
“As much as I can, I will spend time to just sit down, not think too much, and enjoy the beauty God created,” he said.
Vice emphasized the need to maintain a healthy balance between work and personal life. He now prioritizes spending time with loved ones and focusing on his physical and mental well-being.
“Ang sarap sa pakiramdam na magkaroon ng pagkakataon na huminto muna, harapin ang sarili at ang pamilya. Kailangan nating magpasalamat sa mga biyayang natatanggap natin araw-araw,” he added.
Despite his reflections on rest, Vice remains active in his career. He continues to host ‘It’s Showtime’ and has hinted at the possible return of his weekend talk show ‘Gandang Gabi, Vice’.
His latest film, ‘And The Breadwinner Is…’, directed by Jun Lana, received critical acclaim and earned over ₱400 million at the box office. The role earned Vice a Special Jury Citation at the 50th Metro Manila Film Festival, showcasing his versatility as both a comedic and dramatic actor.
Vice also received the Bahaghari Champion award in October 2024 for his contributions to the LGBTQIA+ community.
