As P-Pop continues to gain momentum in the Philippine entertainment industry, a new boy group is set to make its mark. GAT, short for “Gawang Atin ‘To,” is the latest quintet under Ivory Music and Viva Artists Agency (VAA), ready to captivate fans with their music and performances.
The group is composed of Ethan David, Charles Law, Michael Keith, Derick Ong, and Hans Paronda—young artists with individual talents in singing, dancing, and acting. Their group name, GAT, is a nod to Filipino historical figures like Gat Jose Rizal and Gat Andres Bonifacio, symbolizing their commitment to excellence, passion, and national pride.
GAT first gained recognition when they started releasing song covers on social media. Their renditions of James Reid’s ‘Huwag Ka Nang Humirit’ and Juan Caoile and Kyleswish’s ‘Marikit’ caught the attention of P-Pop fans. However, it was their hit cover of ‘Daleng-Dale’ that truly put them on the map, landing at #8 on Spotify Philippines’ Daily Viral Songs chart.
Their self-choreographed dance routine for ‘Daleng-Dale’ also went viral on TikTok, sparking a dance challenge among netizens and further expanding their growing fanbase, known as Gatdula.
Apart from their music career, some members of GAT are also active in the acting scene. They are part of the supporting cast of the Viva One hit series ‘Ang Mutya ng Section E’, which stars Andres Muhlach, Ashtine Olviga, and Rabin Angeles. Their presence in both the music and acting industry showcases their versatility as all-around entertainers.
Each member of GAT brings distinct charm and skills to the group:
Ethan David – A multi-talented artist in acting, singing, and dancing, known for films like Squad Goals (2018) and How To Love Mr. Heartless (2022).
Charles Law – A charismatic performer with experience in Penduko (2023) and The Rain in España (2023).
Michael Keith – An R&B singer with rap versatility, recognized for his singles Ayayay and Drowning.
Derick Ong – A natural dancer and athlete, with experience in hockey and volleyball.
Hans Paronda – A strong vocalist and Born to Be a Star 2020 runner-up, with singles like Ok Lang Ako and Puto featuring Janno Gibbs.
With their rapidly growing presence in the P-Pop scene, GAT is set to take bigger stages soon. Fans can catch them at these upcoming events:
Fusion: The Philippine Music Festival – March 15 at CCP Open Grounds
P-Pop It Up – March 22 at Viva Café
As GAT continues to build their name, they aim to follow in the footsteps of SB19, BINI, BGYO, and Alamat, proving that Filipino talent can shine on the global stage.
