Asia’s Nightingale Lani Misalucha made a memorable return to the stage of ‘ASAP’ on March 9, reuniting with fellow OPM legends for the noontime show’s ‘The Greatest Showdown’ segment.
The celebrated singer performed alongside Gary Valenciano, Martin Nievera, Ogie Alcasid, Erik Santos, Angeline Quinto, Yeng Constantino, Zsa Zsa Padilla, and Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, treating fans to a powerful musical spectacle.
Following the performance, the hosts reminisced about Lani’s early years on ‘ASAP’, prompting the singer to share a lighthearted take on her evolution over the years.
“Ang dami mong core memories dito sa ‘ASAP,’” remarked Zsa Zsa Padilla, leading Lani to crack a joke about her past appearance.
“‘Pag nakita n’yo ‘yong mga YouTube [videos] ko ‘don, sa ‘ASAP,’ oo, hindi pa gawa ilong ko ‘don,” she quipped, drawing laughter from her fellow performers.
She went on to playfully describe her transformation, saying, “No, but if you gonna look at it, iba-iba talaga hitsura ko no’n. Para akong galing sa Mars no’n, charot! Ngayon nasa Earth na ‘ko… siyempre, nag-eevolve ‘yan eh.”
While the moment was filled with humor, Gary Valenciano took the opportunity to express his admiration for Lani’s enduring passion and artistry.
“It doesn’t matter, the point is, you came out on stage today, your heart is still the same, your passion is still the same, your love for the fans and love for us, and our love for you, that has never changed,” he said, earning agreement from their fellow performers.
After being a longtime GMA Network mainstay as a judge on ‘The Clash’, Lani is now set to join ABS-CBN’s ‘Tawag ng Tanghalan (TNT) – All-Star Grand Resbak’ as a new judge alongside Concert Queen Pops Fernandez.
