Rapper-songwriter Andrew E. reminded everyone of his unmatched charisma and crowd-pulling power as he lit up the stage during the proclamation rally of Manila mayoral candidate Sam Verzosa (SV) on March 28 in Dagupan Street, Tutuban.
The energy was electric the moment Andrew stepped on stage. The crowd—composed of Manileños from all walks of life—sang and danced along to his hits, but the excitement hit its peak when he performed his iconic song ‘Banyo Queen.’ In a show of support, the OPM icon even tweaked the lyrics to include Verzosa’s name, drawing even louder cheers and applause from the audience.
In true professional form, Andrew E arrived early to the venue and performed despite the rainy weather. According to Verzosa, the rapper didn’t ask for any talent fee, saying he just genuinely wanted to support the mayoral hopeful.
“May commitment pa siya that night, pero talagang naghintay siya para makasampa sa rally,” shared SV, clearly grateful for the support.
Following his performance, Andrew E raised Verzosa’s hand onstage and declared, “Kung gusto ng pagbabago, si SV ang kailangan!” officially endorsing the candidate.
Before the rally, Verzosa spent a grueling eight hours on a motorcade, engaging with thousands of supporters. Despite the long day, his passion and energy were palpable as he addressed the crowd.
“Wala na tayong pinapangako, lahat ginagawa na po natin,” SV declared, citing his ongoing public service efforts such as free medical check-ups, mobile clinics, maintenance medicine programs, and a ₱2,000 monthly allowance for senior citizens.
Verzosa also addressed critics who accuse him of using aid for political gain. “Kapag nanalo tayo, mas dadagdagan ko pa,” he said. “Ang payo ko sa mga naninira sa atin, gayahin nyo na lang kami. Ang gusto kong makinabang, ang taong bayan.”
He then emphasized his three-point platform: Kalusugan (Health), Karunungan (Education), Kabuhayan (Livelihood). Verzosa believes these “Tatlong K” are key to breaking the cycle of poverty: “Kapag meron na silang tatlong K, meron na silang way para tulungan ang sarili nila.”
