Veteran actor and former basketball star Benjie Paras has spoken up on the rumored breakup of his son, professional basketball player Kobe Paras, and actress Kyline Alcantara.
In an interview with entertainment columnist Gorgy Rula, Benjie denied the reports circulating online that the celebrity couple had already gone their separate ways.
“Sila pa rin,” Benjie said in a Viber message, accompanied by a smiling emoji.
Speculation about a breakup arose after fans noticed that both Kobe and Kyline had apparently removed or archived photos of each other from their respective Instagram accounts. This move led to buzz on social media that the two had called it quits.
When asked about the deleted photos, Benjie simply replied: “Hehehe. Ewan ko sa kanila. Magkasama lang kami, nag-inuman pa, eh.”
While Kobe and Kyline have yet to release any official statement addressing the rumors, sources from Kyline’s camp reportedly said the couple is still doing fine.
Earlier, in an interview, Kobe expressed how much he admires and supports Kyline in her career.
“I will always be here. She is amazing at what she does and she is truly beautiful inside… just more blessings to come for her,” he said.
He also admitted that their busy schedules sometimes keep them apart, but they make time when they can.
“So, when we do have the time, we try hard. It’s hard sometimes when we try to go out and work out,” Kobe shared.
Kyline also responded to Kobe’s public declaration of support with gratitude, saying: “Ang saya-saya ko na sinabi niya ‘yun… I will always be here to support him.”
Despite the speculation, Kyline recently uploaded her cover of Phil Collins’ ‘You’ll Be In My Heart’ on social media, a post that fans took as a message of reassurance.
As of writing, both Kobe and Kyline have remained silent on the breakup issue, but according to Benjie Paras, all is well between them.
