A heartwarming blend of comedy, fantasy, and historical fiction awaits moviegoers as ‘Isang Komedya sa Langit’ hits selected theaters nationwide beginning May 28.
Produced by Kapitana Entertainment Media and based on the novel ‘The Lost Saints’ by Rossana Hwang, the film promises a lighthearted yet thought-provoking journey through time, faith, and the Filipino spirit.
Topbilled by veteran actor Jaime Fábregas as Father Emanuel Garcia, the film also features Gene Padilla (Father Javier Salas), Edgar Allan Guzman (Father Juan Borromeo), John Medina (Father Paolo Pascual), and Akihiro Blanco (Brother Marco). The cast is joined by the iconic Carmi Martin, who plays the modern-day character Naty.
Set during the Spanish colonial period in 1872, ‘Isang Komedya sa Langit’ follows the story of four priests caught in the chaos of the soldiers’ Mutiny. After three of them are falsely accused of rebellion and sentenced to death, a mysterious solar eclipse transports them to modern-day Metro Manila, where they’re hilariously mistaken for saints.
The film is directed by Roi Paolo Calilong, with cinematography by Tejay Gonzales, production design by John Luis Cantila, editing by Jason Cahapay, music by Ian Joseph Tan, and visual effects by Aldo Aguilar.
Behind the camera, executive producer Rossana Hwang—also the author of ‘The Lost Saints’—described the project as a passion piece inspired by themes of connection, redemption, and divine humor.
“Isang Komedya sa Langit delivers a compelling narrative with humor and emotion,” said Hwang. “It’s a feel-good movie with valuable lessons for the whole family.”
She also praised the film’s cast, noting Jaime Fábregas and Carmi Martin’s professionalism on set.
“Si Jaime, napakabait at always on time. Si Carmi, very hands-on—nung na-late ang makeup artist, siya na ang nag-ayos ng sarili niya,” she shared proudly.
The film has already earned positive feedback from early screenings, with audiences describing it as “uplifting, entertaining, and full of heart.”
‘Isang Komedya sa Langit’ is part of Kapitana Entertainment Media’s Easter-to-Independence Day campaign, offering Filipino audiences a family-friendly film rated GP (General Patronage)—perfect for all ages.
