Kapuso actor and philanthropist Alden Richards issued an apology to the participants of the ‘Lights, Camera, Run!’ Takbo Para sa Pelikulang Pilipino after finisher medals for the 3K, 5K, 10K, and 16K categories were delayed during the event held on Sunday morning, May 11, at the Mall of Asia Concert Grounds.
“Medyo hihingi po ako ng dispensa sa inyo. Pasensiya na po,” Alden said in his speech. “But definitely the finisher medals will be coming in today. It’s just in transit right now. Kung hindi man po namin maibigay sa inyo dito sa venue, definitely ipapadala po namin sa inyo lahat ng finisher medals within the day. That’s a promise po for the 3K, 5K, 10K and 16K.”
The fun run was organized by Alden’s own Myriad Entertainment Corporation in partnership with the Movie Workers Welfare Foundation (MOWELFUND). Proceeds from the event will go toward assisting marginalized workers in the local film and TV industries.
Alden was joined by a star-studded lineup of celebrities, including Dingdong Dantes, Kim Chiu, Barbie Forteza, Paulo Avelino, Kristoffer Martin, Jameson Blake, Kim Atienza, Dennis Trillo, and Jennylyn Mercado. MOWELFUND officers Boots Anson-Roa Rodrigo, Rez Cortez, and Gina Alajar were also in attendance, along with GMA Network execs Atty. Annette Gozon-Valdes and Joy Marcelo of Sparkle, who donated ₱100,000 to the cause.
“Maraming-maraming salamat po sa lahat ng nakitakbo para sa pelikulang Pilipino,” Alden expressed. “Sobrang grateful po kaming lahat most especially sa Myriad Entertainment Corporation, of course sa MOWELFUND.”
Acknowledging the hurdles they faced, Alden admitted, “There are hurdles here and there, this is our first time… Actually, this is the first time of my company to mount a fun run, but I think this will definitely not be the last.”
Teasing another run later this year, he added, “Magti-teaser na ako. Actually, sa December, so i-block ninyo na ’yan. Meron tayo for December pero surprise pa ’yan kung para saan.”
