TikTok content creator Euleen Castro, also known as ‘Pambansang Yobab,’ is under fire following a controversial food review video of a well-known Iloilo-based café, Coffeebreak, in which she harshly criticized their food and drinks.
In her viral post, Euleen said: “Nag-try kami dito sa Coffeebreak. Andami. Out of all of you, walang masarap. Even the drinks. Even the lasagna. Lahat tab-ang… Ang dami n’yo diyan, walang masarap sa inyo? P*ta.”
The video, which quickly spread across social media, drew backlash not only from locals but also from the coffee shop and Iloilo City’s local government.
Coffeebreak issued an official statement on Instagram, acknowledging the feedback but condemning the language used in the review: “Thank you for sharing your thoughts Ms. Euleen Castro about your recent visit to Coffeebreak. We appreciate all feedback, as it helps us learn and improve.
However, we were taken aback by the strong and explicit language used in your review. While we understand that not everyone will share the same taste, we believe that constructive criticism can always be communicated respectfully.”
“We’re proud of the work our team puts into creating a positive experience for every guest, and language that crosses the line can be disheartening—not only to us but to the people who work hard every day to serve our customers.”
The café, which has been operating for 20 years, further said this was the first time they had received what they called “insulting feedback”:
“Coffeebreak has been serving coffee lovers for 20 years… we’ve never received an insulting feedback such as yours. If you had shared your concerns with our staff during your visit, we would have been more than happy to enhance your food or drinks to your liking.
We will remain committed to providing a warm, satisfying experience to every guest—and to continuously grow from feedback shared with sincerity and RESPECT.”
Mayor Jerry P. Treñas, through spokesperson Joy Fantilaga-Gorzal, expressed support for the local business: “As one of Iloilo City’s homegrown brands, Coffeebreak has long been a part of our community’s growth, proudly serving Ilonggos for over two decades with consistency, dedication, and warmth.”
“We affirm the importance of protecting our local businesses while also ensuring that customer voices are heard and treated with dignity. Feedback, whether positive or critical, plays a vital role in our collective growth, but it must be expressed and addressed with mutual respect and responsibility.”
Gorzal also reminded influencers and the public to be more mindful of their platforms and how they use their voices: “We urge content creators and the public to be constructive and compassionate in the way they express their opinions, especially in a digital space where words can have far-reaching impact.”
The viral video also sparked strong reactions from Iloilo residents and netizens, some of whom called the review disrespectful. A few even suggested legal consequences for Castro, including possible cyber libel or being declared persona non grata in the city.
As of this writing, Euleen Castro has not issued any public response to the criticism or to Coffeebreak’s official statement.
LionhearTV remains open to publishing Euleen’s side should she wish to clarify or respond to the matter.
