After much anticipation, Sparkle artist and Global Endorser Gabbi Garcia officially renewed her contract with GMA Network, celebrating a meaningful milestone in her 11-year journey as a proud homegrown Kapuso on May 23.
Present during the ceremony were GMA Network President and Chief Executive Officer Gilberto R. Duavit, Jr., Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Felipe S. Yalong, Senior Vice President for Programming, Talent Management, Worldwide, and Support Group and President of GMA Films Atty. Annette Gozon-Valdes, and First Vice President of Sparkle GMA Artist Center and Talent Development & Management Joy Marcelo.
Also in attendance were Senior Vice President for Corporate Strategic Planning and Business Development, Chief Risk Officer, and Head of Program Support Regie C. Bautista, Vice President for Musical Variety, Specials, and Alternative Productions for Entertainment Group Gigi Santiago-Lara, and Vice President and Head for Corporate Affairs and Communications Angela Javier-Cruz.
Since she entered showbiz in 2014, Gabbi has starred in numerous hit TV series, most notably her breakout role as Sang’gre Alena in the iconic Encantadia. She was also one of the lead stars in Unbreak My Heart—the groundbreaking first collaboration between GMA Network, ABS-CBN, and Viu Philippines, which further showcased her versatility as an actress. On the big screen, she has made her mark with LSS (Last Song Syndrome) and is sure to surprise more viewers in the upcoming international film Death March, with Hollywood actor Scott Adkins.
Over the years, Gabbi has gracefully evolved from a young actress to a multifaceted star. She has become a sought-after host, taking on major events like Miss Universe Philippines and the Metro Manila Film Festival’s Gabi ng Parangal. Just this year, she made history as the first-ever Kapuso to host Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition, a clear sign of her versatility and natural charm on camera.
Her talent extends beyond acting and hosting. In fact, Gabbi is also a singer. In 2018, she released a self-produced single titled “All I Need,” giving fans a glimpse of her creative side through music.
At the age of 18, Gabbi made history as the first Filipina ambassador for Pantene Asia, with her campaign reaching audiences in 11 countries. In 2023, she became the first Filipina global ambassador for international fashion brand Aldo. Her growing list of endorsements includes brands like Bench and Belo Beauty and her role as the first Filipina Taiwan Tourism Ambassador.
Gabbi’s influence in fashion and media continues to grow, as seen in her cover features on top magazines like Mega, Preview, Cosmopolitan, L’Officiel, Nylon, and Scout, where she’s recognized not just for her beauty but for her authenticity and relatability.
As she celebrates her 11th year in the industry, Gabbi reflects on her journey with gratitude, “When I was younger, I often got rejected in auditions, in VTRs. But GMA was one of the few who embraced me, who welcomed me, who accepted me, and who saw something in me. Tumaya sila sa ‘kin without even knowing what I have to offer. That was 11 years ago, and cut to this day, GMA is my home; GMA is my second family. I thank you for giving me this opportunity to remain a loyal Kapuso.”
GMA Network Chairman Atty. Felipe L. Yalong is impressed at how Gabbi has improved in her craft through the years. “The video itself shows us the transformation of Gabbi, where she started as a teenage talent at that time, and her transformation to where she is right now. An international endorser, a host, an actress, and a vlogger, and all of these happened with the guidance of GMA and Sparkle. Gozon-Valdes looks forward to Gabbi’s bright future in the industry, “We’ve seen your growth not only as an artist but as a person for these 10 years. And we’ve seen how good you are, how nice you are and how passionate you are with your craft. I’ll just make an analogy to borrow from Forrest Gump, Gabbi is like a box of chocolates – you’ll never know what you’re gonna get but it’s always so surprisingly good. So, to everyone whatever time of the day, Magandang Gabbi sa lahat.”
Lastly, Marcelo reminisced about Gabbi’s beginnings and how she continues to hone her talent, “We grew up together. I’ve seen Gabbi through the ups, through the stumbles, through everything, and I can say that she is someone not just full of talent but also pure of heart because she never gave up. We’ve been through a lot, but she knows herself really well, and she’s a very easy person to work with. Gabbi’s very collaborative, probably also the reason why a lot of brands and a lot of clients are still with her up to this day.”
