Veteran showbiz columnist Lolit Solis expressed her disappointment over Senator Bong Revilla Jr.’s failure to secure a spot in the “Magic 12” of the 2025 senatorial race.
In an emotional Instagram post on Friday, May 16, Solis said she felt deeply saddened by the result but remained hopeful about Revilla’s future.
“Election is just one day in your life, what you do with the rest ang mas importante,” she wrote. “Hindi natapos sa eleksyon ang buhay ni Bong Revilla. Marami pa siyang magagawa at puwedeng gawin.”
Despite the setback, Solis highlighted the many blessings Revilla’s family continues to enjoy.
“Panalo si Lani, nasa puwesto si Jolo, may abogadang anak at isang magdo-doktor. Ano pa ang mahihiling mo sa buhay?” she said, referring to Bong’s wife Bacoor Mayor Lani Mercado, their son Cavite Vice Governor Jolo Revilla, and their accomplished children.
Solis also praised Bong’s character and attitude in the face of defeat.
“Walang bitterness, walang inggit, walang galit. Tinanggap niya ang resulta ng kalmado at very positive—a real gentleman,” she said. “Ito ang patunay kung anong klase ng tao si Bong Revilla.”
She added, “It is really an honor to be his friend… Ang mahalaga hindi ang Senador, o action star at artistang si Bong Revilla. Ang pinaka-importante, iyon tao na si Bong Revilla.”
In a heartfelt message, Solis further shared: “So proud to know you. Very big honor to have been close to you. Hold your head high, because the respect and love for you will never diminish because of the election… Basta ikaw pa rin ang minamahal, iginagalang, at lagi naming pagtitiwalaan. Nag-iisang Bong Revilla. Bongga forever.”
As of the latest tally, Bong Revilla Jr.—who previously won Senate seats in 2004 and 2019—failed to make the cut for the 12 winning senatorial slots.
