Kapuso comedian and TV host Boobay alarmed fans and supporters after he collapsed mid-performance during an out-of-town show for a private company.
In videos circulating on social media, the 43-year-old entertainer—real name Norman Balbuena—was seen singing and joking with the crowd when he suddenly slowed down, lost his footing, and fainted. The incident occurred at a summer event held outdoors under a temporary tent.

Fortunately, a woman from the audience caught him before he hit the ground, while security and medical staff quickly came to his aid and brought him backstage for first aid. Despite the scare, Boobay reportedly returned onstage later to finish his hosting duties.

The episode drew comparisons to a similar on-air medical emergency in 2023 during his interview with Boy Abunda on ‘Fast Talk,’ where he abruptly paused mid-sentence. In 2024, he also fainted during a special event in Aparri, Cagayan.
In a past interview with Ogie Diaz, Boobay revealed he suffers from absence seizures—a condition marked by brief lapses in consciousness, often linked to his 2016 mild stroke. He explained that episodes are typically triggered by fatigue and lack of sleep due to back-to-back engagements.
However, Boobay also admitted it’s hard to completely let go of comedy bar gigs, saying they remain close to his heart and part of his identity.
As of writing, Boobay has yet to release an official statement on the recent incident. Concerned netizens and fellow celebrities continue to urge him to prioritize his health and get adequate rest.
