Though the 2025 midterm elections are over, award-winning actor John Arcilla remains vocal about his views on Philippine politics—this time calling on the younger generation to step up and take charge.
In a powerful Facebook post, the Venice Film Festival Best Actor admitted that his generation made mistakes in choosing public officials in past elections, and he believes it’s time for a new era of leadership to emerge.
He continued by calling for the end of political dynasties, urging voters to elect fresh and capable leaders who haven’t clung to power for years.
Arcilla’s message resonated with many online, especially young voters who made a significant impact in the May 12 midterm elections. The “Heneral Luna” star encouraged them to research candidates carefully in future polls and vote for those who truly deserve the people’s trust.
“I’m sure alam ninyo na kayo, pamilya ninyo, at ang buong bansa ang makikinabang sa gagawin ninyo,” he added.
Known for being outspoken, Arcilla has consistently used his platform to express concern over the state of governance in the country. However, he previously made it clear that he has no plans to enter politics, stating he prefers to hold public officials accountable rather than become one of them.
