QUEEN of All Media Kris Aquino couldn’t help but laugh—and later grow emotional—after watching a viral edited video combining an old clip of her with a recent statement from Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa.
The video, which has been making the rounds online, splices Dela Rosa’s remark—“I am not a lawyer, nag-iisip lang. I am just guided by the Holy Spirit”—with a throwback clip of Aquino saying, “I’ll wait for the Holy Spirit to guide me. Idinamay ko pa ang Holy Spirit!” The humorous editing drew a hearty laugh from Aquino, who is currently battling multiple autoimmune diseases.
Entertainment writer and Aquino’s close friend Dindo Balares shared the story in a Facebook post, recalling his recent visit to the TV host at a beach resort where she’s staying.
“Cute ang ngiti ni Kris habang may pinapanood sa cellphone pagsungaw ng mukha ko sa pintuan ng room niya, para sabihing luto na ang ipinaglambing niyang chicken curry,” Balares wrote. “Aliw na aliw si Kris, at nakakahawa ang masayang reaction niya sa video.”
Aquino even messaged Balares later that night, saying, “You were asking me what I believe sets me apart—it’s because I can laugh at the weirdest things that come popping out of my mouth. When you can laugh at yourself, winner ka na because having the ability to take life and all its quirks is what keeps one from getting too full of herself. My mom and dad had that. And thank God I also inherited it.”
But the laughter soon turned bittersweet.
“The one who uploaded said: ‘Nakaka-miss si Krissy,’” Aquino reportedly told Balares. “Tinamaan ako, Kuya Dindo. People do not realize how much I miss the old me… But I am human and it hurts so much.”
Aquino, who has largely stayed out of the public eye amid her ongoing medical treatment, has often shared her reflections on life, resilience, and humor on social media and through close friends.
