Veteran showbiz columnist and host Cristy Fermin turned emotional during the July 5 episode of ‘Cristy Ferminute’ as she read a heartfelt text message sent by her longtime friend and fellow entertainment journalist Lolit Solis, who passed away on July 3 at the age of 78.
Solis’ message, which Cristy received prior to her passing, expressed deep gratitude and affection for their decades-long friendship. Through tears, Cristy read the message live on air: “Salamat, mahal kong Cristy.
She continued with the part of the message that struck her the most: “’Yong pagmamahal natin, hindi na ‘yon mawawala.
Cristy reflected on their history, admitting that while they occasionally clashed, those moments never broke the foundation of their friendship.
She also acknowledged that both of them had moments of misunderstanding: “Marami pong pagkakataon na ako ay nagtampo sa kaniya, nagtampo din siya sa akin.
It can be recalled that in June 2023, the two engaged in a public exchange after Solis called out Cristy for frequently commenting on her talent, Paolo Contis, during her programs. Cristy clarified at the time that she was simply doing her job and never took personal jabs at Solis or any of her managed artists.
Despite past disagreements, Cristy emphasized that their love and respect for each other stood the test of time. The segment became a touching tribute to Solis, whose legacy as a fearless, loyal, and influential voice in Philippine entertainment journalism lives on.
“Mahal kita, Manay. At habang may hininga ako, hindi kita makakalimutan,” Cristy said in closing.
