Despite recent buzz about a possible falling-out, ‘Eat Bulaga!’ hosts Maine Mendoza and Miles Ocampo shared a brief but notable interaction on-air during the show’s ‘Sugod Bahay’ segment on Friday, July 4.
Miles, who joined the live segment, warmly greeted Maine on her 10th anniversary in the entertainment industry:
“Happy Anniversary, Ate!” said Miles.
“Menggay, congrats, Maine!” added Wally Bayola.
“Thank you! Salamat mga friends, salamat! Thank you Kuya, Miles, Kuya Jose,” Maine replied, clearly acknowledging Miles by name.
The moment, although short, was closely watched by fans who had speculated tension between the two after noticing that Maine had unfollowed Miles on Instagram. Miles, however, still follows Maine. The lack of recent social media interaction, minimal shared screen time, and separate tapings had further fueled the rumor mill.
Observers pointed out the two have a long-standing friendship, with Miles even attending Maine’s 2023 wedding to actor-politician Arjo Atayde. The two were also seen vacationing with fellow Dabarkads in Bangkok last May. But soon after that trip, fans began sensing a visible distance between the two on and off screen.
While Friday’s interaction doesn’t necessarily confirm that all is well, it was the first time the two addressed each other on-air since the feud rumors surfaced—enough to give hopeful fans a sense of reassurance.
Still, questions remain. As of writing, neither Maine nor Miles has publicly spoken about the alleged rift or addressed the social media unfollowing.
Meanwhile, Maine marked her milestone year with a heartfelt message to fans through her Instagram broadcast channel, Maine Content. “Wow, can you believe it’s been a decade? Where did time go? Napakabilis,” she began.
In a long reflective post, she opened up about the highs and lows of her 10-year journey in showbiz, from the unexpected viral fame of ‘Kalyeserye’ to her quieter, more grounded present.
“From a timid girl who inadvertently ended up in the spotlight to a (still timid) woman who embraces the steadiness of life… I’m happy and grateful to be standing where I began—and where I have always chosen to be.”
Maine also spoke of her longing for peace, the emotional toll of fame, and her gratitude for having Eat Bulaga! as her “home.”
“I’ll always find a home with the Dabarkads, who have seen and accepted all facets of me… It’s a big blessing not everyone gets to experience.”
“Thank you to those who stood by me from the beginning. Thank you for keeping up with the mundane—for embracing stillness with me. At the end of it all, what we truly long for is the comfort of being home.”
