Speculation is swirling in showbiz circles about the current status of Gerald Anderson and Julia Barretto’s relationship, with rumors suggesting that the couple may be on a “cool off stage.”
The buzz started after fans noticed that the two have not been posting much about each other on social media recently.
In his ‘Showbiz Updates’ vlog on Saturday, August 23, talent manager and host Ogie Diaz addressed the issue, citing a source who claimed that the pair are indeed on a break.
“Gaano [ito] katotoo? Itatanong na rin natin kasi syempre ayaw naming maniwala. Lalo na ako, ayaw kong maniwala. Kasi nakikita kong si Gerald at Julia, parang sila ‘yong future. Sila pa rin ‘yong ending,” Ogie said.
He admitted being puzzled by the rumor, pointing out that the two still appear to be working together on the noontime show ‘Eat Bulaga’.
“Sabi ko naman ay, ‘paano ‘yong sa Eat Bulaga na nasa studio si Julia at nasa remote si Gerald tapos sila pa rin?’” he remarked.
When asked what caused the alleged cool off, Ogie’s source pointed to a supposed third party.
“Tinanong ko, ‘ano ang dahilan ba’t sila nag-cool off?’ Mayroon daw third party. Totoo ba ‘yon? May third party daw?” Ogie shared, expressing his own doubts.
Still, Ogie clarified that the information remains unconfirmed, stressing that it should be left to the couple to address.
“Anyway, iiwan natin sa kanila iyan. Hindi po iyan kompirmado, naibalita lamang iyan sa akin. Parang naghihintay lang daw ng signs si Julia kasi kapag sila na ulit, kailangan kasal na,” he added.
According to him, one thing remains clear: “Pero ang nakarating sa akin, mahal na mahal ni Julia si Gerald despite the issue.”
Gerald and Julia confirmed their relationship in 2021, two years after denying that Julia was involved in Gerald’s controversial split with Bea Alonzo. In 2024, Julia reflected on that chapter, saying, “You have to take accountability for, anong naging role mo sa chaos na ‘yun.”
